Principal's Message

Wallace Bates

My leadership philosophies center on those I learned as a retired Army Reserve Officer, a strong focus on serving others, and hard work and dedication. My passion is watching kids work hard to reach their full potential, never settling for mediocrity.  I believe we can each make a difference in the lives of others and I hope to influence others as I have been influenced by former educators.

I have over 20 years of experience in the educational setting. I began as a bus driver and have served in numerous roles including classroom teacher, Academic Specialist, Tech Prep Coordinator, Head Basketball Coach Boys and Girls, Head Girls Volleyball Coach, Head Softball Coach, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and High School Principal. I also have a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

As a first-generation college graduate, I strive to empower my students to achieve the best and to never accept limitations that others may place on them.

I am honored to serve as principal at Powell County High School. I want open communication with stakeholders. My personal Cell Phone is 606 568 6625. Please call me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Wallace Bates
