For the 2018-2019 school year, I will teach Content Reading and Language Arts.  I will provide reading instruction for Social Studies and Science.  I will also teach Spelling and Writing.  Students will learn Technology, Arts and Humanities, Practical Living, and Health.  I hold two degrees from Eastern Kentucky University; a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education P-5, and a Master of Arts in Education as a Reading and Writing Specialist K-12.  My philosophy is that each child has unlimited potential to learn and I have high expectations for all students to accomplish goals and challenge themselves to learn something new every day.

I have included a link for Common Core Standards to help guide and answer question you may have about what students will be learning and are required to know.  I have links for our curriculum maps and pacing guides for more detailed information. There is also a syllabus link.  Additionally, I have made and uploaded lists for the first 1000 sight words. Students will receive a copy of these for their binder and to use at home for practice.  Helping your child practice and learn these words builds reading knowledge.

You may contact me by e-mail at Pam.Johnson@powell.kyschools.us. Look for important information each Monday in our class newsletter and student's weekly folder home as well as this webpage.

Keep learning by visiting links in our virtual classrooom! My students can read and visit my website for fun things to do and learn.  Please find links to complete Lexia online and also place book orders.:)
