Method of Grading: Grades will be based upon various forms of student work throughout the school year. These will include tests, weekly formative assessments and student participation, notebook quizzes, folder checks, homework assignments, lab work/reports, as well as independent and/or group projects. All unit content in this class will be based upon the Next Generation Science Standards.

The grading scale is as follows: 100-90 =A, 89-80 =B, 79-70 =C, 69-60= D, below 60=F

Class Homework Policy: Students are expected to turn all homework assignments in by their given due date. For each day an assignment is late, the grade will be reduced by 10%. Following the second day, the grade may be dropped further. If a student has an excused absence the day an assignment is given, that absence will not be counted against the student and they will be able to complete the assignment for its designated point value.

Notebook/Folder: Each student will be responsible for keeping and updating a classroom composition notebook as well as a folder containing examples of both class and homework. I have provided each of them with a folder, and they have each brought a composition notebook into class as well. They have the option of either keeping the notebook with them each day, or leaving it in the classroom. They are each responsible for bringing their folder to class each day, as these will not be left in the classroom.

Plagiarism or Cheating: We will take cheating/plagiarizing seriously in this classroom. In accordance with the policy set by PCMS, students will receive a zero on any assignment if they are cheating or plagiarizing, with no exceptions whatsoever.
