Superintendent Search Committee process starts the week of January 8th with nominations

The Superintendent Search process is starting for Powell County School District.  During the month of January, we will be taking nominations and voting over the next several weeks for the screening committee.

Pursuant to Kentucky Revised Statute 160.352, a screening committee must be established for the purpose of making recommendations to the Board of Education for hiring a new superintendent.  Therefore, elections for members of this committee will need to be held at once. The composition of this committee includes the following:

Two (2) teachers – to be elected by district teachers

One (1) principal – to be elected by district principals

One (1) parent – elected by the presidents of the local PTO organizations

One (1) classified employee – elected by the district classified employees

The elected members will be joined by one (1) member of the Board of Education, who will be selected by the board chair, to complete the screening committee.

Nominations for school staff will be held during the week of January 8-12 to make nominations.

Information for parents can be found on the district's Facebook page as well as this website under the Board of Education tab.  Information, as well as Nomination Forms, will also be sent home with each student.

Nomination forms may be picked up from building principals or supervisors and at Central Office.  All nomination forms must be delivered to Central Office in person and submitted to Julie Clark.  No email nominations will be accepted.  Nomination forms can be turned into Central Office from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., January 8-12, 2018.

The names of the committee members, who have been selected, along with their contact information, must be submitted in writing to the Chair of the Powel County Board of Education no later than January 22, 2018.  This date is subject to change only due to inclement weather.

Your participation in this most important process will be of great benefit to the school district.
